“Everything means nothing, if I ain't got you!”

The Rookie has reached 100 Episodes! In the ever-evolving landscape of television, where new shows burst onto our screens and vie for our attention, there's a rare and significant milestone that only a select few manage to achieve – the coveted 100-episode mark. It's a feat that transcends the mere measurement of time, transcending the confines of ordinary television success, and etching a show's name into the annals of small-screen history. This week, fans across the world gathered not just to celebrate a number but to pay homage to the resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication of the cast and crew who bring these stories to life.

Reaching 100 episodes isn't just a statistical achievement; it's a testament to the ability of a TV show to capture hearts, minds, and imaginations over an extended period. It signifies a journey that extends far beyond the screen and into the lives of both the characters and the dedicated individuals who breathe life into them. Cheers to 100 episodes and beyond!

Let's dive in!

Can we please talk about the BEST COLD OPENING EVER! I immediately recognized the street and the house as soon as Nolan and Celina pulled up. The fact that “Daddy Cop” was part of the opening indicated that the 100th episode was going to be mind-blowing!  earlier moments in the series. Also, the fact that Grey was watching the bodycam footage made me wonder what else he knows about. #Chenford fans, you know what I am talking about! After all, he did say “he figured as much,” when Tim went to go tell him that he was dating Lucy! Has Grey been a #Chenford supporter this entire time?

Wedding planning time! Of course, in good ole #TheRookie fashion, something needs to happen before the wedding. Henry's decision to call Bailey, his future stepmother, about his dilemma of potentially missing his father's wedding holds significant importance. By reaching out to Bailey, Henry demonstrates a level of trust and reliability in their relationship. He sees her not just as his father's partner but as someone he can confide in and depend on in times of need. Their relationship has developed beyond mere acquaintance and into a meaningful bond where Henry feels comfortable seeking her assistance.

Skip Tracer Randy (STR)  and Chastity! You just know that with STR being in this episode, some interesting things would happen…

I love the relationship between Grey and Luna. He supports her “book group,” which we later find out wasn’t a book group (she is going back to finish her degree, you go girl!) and he is comfortable with her showing up at his job site. At this point, it seems as if Aaron is running on autopilot just getting through the day-to-day. The fact that Luna wanted to check in on him shows that she has experience with this, especially with Grey and she wants to ensure that his officers are doing well. We hear a loud bang and immediately it's as if Aaron is transferred back to the day of the attack. Then we have Nyla and Celina! The pairing that we all did not know we needed. She genuinely cares about Celina and wants to ensure she does the job well.

Oh, Tim and Lucy! My #Chenford heart is all over the place with you two. Firstly, it's clear that Tim and Lucy have different approaches to dealing with disagreements. Tim opts to walk away and cool off, which can sometimes be beneficial in preventing heated arguments but can also lead to feelings of avoidance or neglect from the other party, as Lucy experienced. On the other hand, Lucy prefers open communication, which is essential for addressing issues and maintaining trust and intimacy in a relationship. Tim's reluctance to discuss Lucy's desire to become an undercover detective stems from his ex-wife's negative experiences in that role. Tim may have valid concerns based on his previous relationship, but he needs to communicate these concerns openly and respectfully with Lucy rather than avoiding the issue altogether.

Oscar, our favorite prisoner is back! I think we can all agree that Oscar has become a fan favorite of #TheRookie.

He has been in all 6 seasons and he is always ready to have an awesome witty line. The fact that Monica is his lawyer can open up many different scenarios and routes that the show can take. Remember, we did see Oscar and Elijah meeting each other in jail. Also, Bridget Regan (Monica), always does an exceptional job with her roles. All my Jane the Virgin fans can agree with her performance as Rose, aka, Sin Rostro.

In the next scene, we see STR and Chastity asking Lucy for help. They have pawned Bailey’s wedding ring. Honestly, only something that can happen to STR. They sold it to a felon named, “The Hammer,” and this is where we get our title for the episode from. Lucy's decision to seek help from Angela rather than directly from Tim indicates a level of frustration or disappointment in their communication. Tim's involvement in the conversation seems to reignite the unresolved issues between them, leading to further conflict. The tension between Tim and Lucy is still palpable, even in the presence of Angela, Tim's best friend.

Lucy's response, "I don't need it, but I will accept it," can imply a reluctance to fully engage with Tim or accept his help, due to lingering feelings of hurt from their previous disagreement. On the other hand, Tim's offer to help despite the strained atmosphere demonstrates a desire to mend their relationship and support Lucy, even if it means facing rejection or discomfort. Tim and Lucy were going at it and our girl Angela was enjoying it!

Sassy Tim and sassy Lucy are back! We all know that Tim loves Lucy too much to let her fight The Hammer. We get this epic fight scene between Tim and The Hammer and Lucy is just watching making sure her man does not get too hurt. Now, here comes the scene that made me GASP! Tim finally wins and can get the ring back. The way he was kneeling on one knee with the open box foreshadows a #Chenford engagement in the near future and I am so here for it! Great camera blocking!

Girls' night and guys' night! This scene was totally out of a 90s rom-com. The going back and forth between Lucy talking with the girls and Tim talking with the guys was pure genius! Celina telling Lucy, “Please tell me your bachelorette party will I love less baking and more actual party.” At this point, who doesn’t love #Chenford? I particularly enjoyed Tim opening up to the guys; something we never thought would happen.  Chastity then brings up a point, is Lucy projecting? Is there really something that is holding her back from actually moving forward? We shall see as the season progresses.

The much awaited lie-detector scene! Ever since the article came out in which we were made aware a lie-detector scene was going to occur, fan theories were coming from left and right. And, I may add, some of them were pretty spot on. Also, the fact that it is implied that Tim took love advice from STR is comical to me!

Tim's decision to hook himself up to a lie-detector test for Lucy speaks volumes about his commitment to their relationship. It shows his willingness to go to great lengths to prove his love and support for her, even if it means subjecting himself to potentially uncomfortable situations.

This is the first time that we have heard Tim admit that he loves Lucy. His affirmative response to her question about love reflects the depth of his affection for her. However, when confronted with a question related to their relationship struggles, the lie-detector indicates a discrepancy between his verbal response and his physiological reactions. Tim may genuinely believe he supports Lucy becoming an undercover detective, but it is evident there are underlying doubts or conflicting emotions that he may not even be aware of himself. At the end of it all, there is some major communication issues.

It is wedding day! #Wopez and #Jayla having a scene together demonstrates the power couple that they are! I love that #TheRookie is able to add comedic timing when needed. I adored the quick interaction between Wes and James.

Timothy, you are looking for Lucy! I have loved that throughout the the series, Tim and Lucy have been able to find one another amongst the crowd. This shows that they are in-tune with one another and no matter what, they are going to be there for one another. Plus, John Mayer’s song “Gravity” play during this scene was great!

The wedding ceremony! Grey, is officiating the ceremony everybody! I do not think that he ever pictured himself doing this for Nolan! Yet here he is offering his support to another fellow officer at their wedding!

I will be honest, I have not been much of a #Bailen fan, however, after the wedding episode, they are starting to grow on me as a couple. I loved their wedding vows. How many of us want to be loved and seen? As we have seen throughout the series, Nolan does make Bailey feel loved and special. Oh how I wish Tim and Lucy would have turned to look at one another during the vows. We next have the reception and the big dance party! It is so great to see all the cast having a great time on the dance floor.

Aaron and Celina! Oh boy, Aaron has definitely crossed the line with her. It is evident that Aaron feels like he has a special bond with Celina, if you would like to call it that, because of the traumatic event that they both went through. After all, she was with him the night of the attack and he feels as if she is the only one that can truly understand him and what he is going through.  Nonetheless, Aaron needs to work through his traumatic events. We then see him use alcohol as his coping mechanism. As a side note, I am interested to see how all of  this plays out with the department therapist!

As soon as I heard the first piano keys from Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain't Got You,” I knew we were going to get a #Chenford scene! How awesome it is that they used the song that was Melissa’s try-out song for Canadian Idol. In addition, what came to mind in this episode was Melissa covering “Lesson Learned,” back in the day; a song both by Alicia Keys and John Mayer!

Tim walking up to Lucy, no words are needed, he just knows he needs to connect with her. Also, I would have loved to hear the advice that Luna was giving Lucy...because I just know she was! Tim's admission of his conflicted feelings about Lucy being an undercover detective is a significant step forward in their relationship. It shows his willingness to confront his own emotions and be honest with Lucy about his concerns. Lucy's understanding and reassurance demonstrates her commitment to supporting Tim through his struggles and working together to overcome any obstacles they may face.

By communicating openly and honestly with each other, they lay the foundation for resolving their issues and strengthening their bond. Despite the difficulties they may encounter, Tim and Lucy's love for each other shines through. They recognize that their relationship is worth fighting for and are determined to do the work necessary to make it thrive. Will it be easy, no, but at the end of the day, both know, “Everything means nothing, if I ain't got you!”

As always, thank you for following along!

Xoxo,

Mercy
